Jim has always been involved in volunteering. Jim was the President, Mercado Chairman, and Parade Chairman of the Swallows’ Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano. This parade is very similar to the Old Time Miners’ Day parade that used to be held in Big Bear. Jim was President of a fundraising organization and was a member of the Planning Commission, including Chairman, in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Jim recently completed putting on the biggest event in the Village: the Fun Run Car Show. This show brought 500 cars and 15,000 spectators to the Village. Jim was recognized by the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club with a special award for his outstanding leadership for this event. Putting on this show required more than personal effort – it required working with volunteers and paid groups throughout Big Bear.
Jim considered several areas of the southwest to retire. Jim fell in love with the Village, the cabins, the forest, and the lake in Big Bear. Jim is passionate for the Big Bear community and is committed to helping Big Bear be a vibrant community for all.
Jim is a member of Rotary, the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club, the RodRiders Car Club, and the Antique and Classic Boat Society.
